This is a family of non dangerous memory-resident viruses that write themselves into .COM- and .EXE-files as these files are started. The "Flash" viruses make some video effects only on the CGA adapter. They hook INT 8, 21h.

Smut.938
Description Smut.938
It is a dangerous nonmemory resident parasitic virus. It searches for EXE files in the current directory tree, then writes itself to the end of the file. It also writes a trojan program to the MBR of hard drive. This program activates on system reboot, hooks INT 13h and depending on the system timer restarts the computer.
SMVB.708
Description SMVB.708
These are not dangerous memory resident parasitic viruses. They hook INT 21h and write themselves to the beginning of .COM files that are executed. They contain the text strings: This Remark is used as an identification pattern for the Anti-Virus-Utility. Do not try to change it. This Remark is used by the anti-virus utility as a pointer to the end of the Virus.
and: "Smvb.1023": SmvbVir "Smvb.1100": ASUIDFMNCVOPSAIUFDNMVCPO
"Smvb.1023" also hooks INT 8 to prevent debugging. "Smvb.1100" hooks INT 16h and tries to change the keys that are entered, but fails. "Smvb.708" hooks INT 17h and changes the symbols that are printed.
