These are harmless memory resident parasitic viruses. They hook INT 21h and write themselves to the beginning of COM and to the end of EXE files that are executed. Minor virus versions infect COM files only. The "Vulcan.496" virus does not infect A*.* files. The viruses do not manifest themselves, they contain the text strings:
"Vulcan.307,480,484": Vulcan
"Vulcan.496": Vulcan ver. 1.00. (C) 1993.

It is a harmless memory resident parasitic virus. It hooks INT 13h, 28h and on INT 28h calls searches for .COM files except COMMAND.COM and writes itself to the end of the file. The virus contains the text strings:

This is a relatively harmless memory resident parasitic virus. The virus stays memory resident only under DOS 5.0 or higher, in another case it displays:
Incorrect DOS version
and terminates the execution of the host program.
While installing, the virus hooks INT 21h, and intercepts ChDir DOS functions. While selecting a new subdirectory, the virus searches for all EXE files except SCAN.EXE, CLEAN.EXE, FINDVIRU.EXE, and writes itself into the file middle between the EXE header and the module body. The virus has a bug, and fails to infect files on the hard drive.
On the 13th of any month, the virus displays the following message and halts a PC:
